Hi everyone

Ok the Official release of this famous gig has bugged me as it doesn't include the
tune ups whilst Beethoven is in full swing.

Recently for my Birthday I was bought an ION turntable which connects to my computer.

For my own listening pleasure I decided I wanted the full intro to the show.

I had a version of the full intro of the DJ which I'd received goodness knows when
in a snail mail trade no doubt.

So using Audacity I merged the full DJ intro, with Mick Ronsons tune ups.

I have also left in the first few notes of Hang Onto Yourself so you know exactly where it fits.

I have included a photo of the red vinyl boot I own of the gig, on said vinyl deck.

Finally this show is as complete as it ever will be.

Full DJ is:

"Steve Martin here, backstage at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. It's a cool night in Los Angeles, and as you may know or not know, the Santa Monica Civic is about a hundred yards from the beach so we have a cool breeze blowing off the ocean through the stage at our backs. The auditorium is packed, as a matter of fact, for the first David Bowie concert in the Los Angeles area. There will be one more tomorrow night, this is the concert tonight which will be recorded by RCA for the next David Bowie album and we expect to hear some new material by this British superstar. David and his group, the Spiders From Mars will enter from the other side of the stage. The auditorium is completely blacked out except for flashing strobe lights. Now the entrance music will be the Ode, or should I say the Ode To Joy which is featured in the movie Clockwork Orange and the house lights are starting to dim... here's David Bowie."

I want to share my efforts with the community, however I'm aware that part of the DJ intro
is on the official release.

Can I upload it?  We are talking about a minutes worth of recording, I will share it if allowed by the Mods.

Cheers

Paul

The cd 'Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars Live' (label: Audiophile Legends, released 1995) has the 1:22 min outro of the dj with Ode to Joy playing in the background as well.

I wasn't aware of that.  Does that version have Ronson tuning up?  If I get the green light I'll share my efforts if not and folk want what I have I can use dropbox.

Cheers

The cd has the edited intro plus the mentioned outro. I remember the Rock and Roll Suicide bootleg cd by Great Dane records has the complete intro too. I would love to have that again. I don't think sharing it here is against the BS policy. As the complete intro is different than the official version. Besides it isn't really music.

The EMI Offical is Richard Kimble announcing, into Hang onto Yourself

and hardly call Griffin Music's an official after being pulled so quick

versions I've got I think 3 radio stations, different station jingle played through them
Great Dane doesn't have announcer at beginning just full The Ode to Joy
Swinging Pig straight into Hang onto Yourself
none have the tune ups

so would be a nice bonus for the Swinging pig one, rip it and give it a Decent Intro

Ok I'll upload it and hope everyone is fine with it.  As you say there's just the short DJ introduction.  My version is the complete DJ introduction as well as ode to joy with Ronson tuning up.
