Going through my old tapes, I have found a Ziggy (72) show that I cannot identify. The spine of the case says 'David Bowie - The Friars - Aylesbury May 1972'. Firstly, I can't find a Friars show from May. Secondly, the setlist doesn't match other Aylesbury shows (that I can find). Here's the setlist, standard mid-72 from what I can tell, but without 'Song For Bob Dylan' and more importantly, including 'Round and Round' after RnR Suicide.

Hang On To Yourself
Ziggy
The Supermen
Queen Bitch
Changes
Life On Mars?
Five Years
Space Oddity
Andy Warhol
The Width of A Circle
Moonage Daydream
Starman
Waiting For The Man
White Light/White Heat
Suffragette City
RnR Suicide
Round and Round

The sound is pretty good. Between 6 and 7 (although it's all subjective). Anybody got any ideas? I'll run it through Audacity and listen for any between songs chat that might help. In the meantime, over to you, Bowiephiles...

There are quite a few Aylesbury shows here. You might want to check it against these-

...and then my mind split open.

Is it definitely a single concert, and not a paste-up?  The set-list is closest to the US leg of the Ziggy tour - as you observe, Song For Bob Dylan should be there.  Just speculating that it may be a compy of more than one gig...

Don't blame me, I didn't do it!

I've been through track lists of all known 1972 shows and none have this running order.

Could it be that it's made up of two shows ?? Is there any distinctive talking between tracks?

Also some times after 'Ode to Joy' Bowie would say something like 'Evening Preston[example] my names David Bowie these are the spiders from mars and this is some of our music'

or 'this is some of our rock'

At first listen it is one show. However, I am going to transfer it to the laptop to edit with Audacity. That will enable me to get more info on comments and splices/edits.
Thanks for the replies!

Going through it now.
So far:

Cassette side A

Ode To Joy intro
Hang On To Yourself
Ziggy Stardust
The Supermen
Queen Bitch
Changes
Life On Mars?
cut between songs
Five Years
minor disturbance between songs
Space Oddity (includes minor cut)
cut between songs
Andy Warhol
minor cut between songs
The Width of A Circle

Very quiet and respectful crowd during the songs. The band aren't messing around between numbers, it's straight into the next song as soon as the previous one finishes. Nice sounding tape.
Ok we have our first cut. It's between Life On Mars? and Five Years. Sounds like the same show though. No noticeable change in tone, volume or quality. Sounds like an English audience. Minor tape disturbance between Five Years and Space Oddity, but again the sound remains consistent. Minor cut number two in the middle of Space Oddity but sound hasn't changed. Taper fiddling with recorder and minor cut between SO and AW. Once again the sound quality, tone etc is unaffected. Maybe someone can ID the rough date from the song arrangements? Space Oddity is quite distinctive towards the end. Audience clapping along to the WOAC intro. The minor cuts between songs sound like the taper trying to save tape (maybe?). I think the age of the tape is showing. What can only be described as 'crackling' noises can be heard. Not intrusive though. Width of A Circle will be going for a while. I'll be back when it comes to the tape flip...

cassette side B
Moonage Daydream (start cut & cut in middle)
Starman
another cut between songs
Waiting For The Man
White Light/White Heat
cut between songs
Suffragette City
cuts between songs
ENCORES
Rock 'n' Roll Suicide
Round And Round

Cuts in Moonage Daydream at the start and in the middle, but still the sound remains the same. Still no comments that might offer a clue as to where or when this was recorded. There are several cuts but (to my ear at least) it does sound like the same show. I guess we'll only know if I upload it and someone with more knowledge can give it a listen. Can I upload a show without knowing the location or date? There's a question... As far as sound goes, I'd give this a 7 or 7+. Bowie says something between Starman and Waiting For The Man but I couldn't work it (on) out. The instrumental section of Waiting For The Man is quite extended and raucous. Another cut (tape being stopped in this case) between WL/WH and Suffragette City. I still think this is one show. Suffragette City seems to have a few vocal 'tells' in it. Another two cuts (tape stops) after Suffragette City as that seems to be the end of the main set. Bowie makes a couple of comments. I'm not sure if everyone has now stood up and the sound has been affected. It's not drastically different to be honest. The 'Gimme your hands' section of RnR Suicide is very distinctive. There are a couple of 'Thank you' comments from Bowie and a 'Goodbye' followed by lots of footstompin' by the audience, who are clearly all standing by now and the sound becomes more muffled. The band returns and Bowie says 'Thank you very much...Aylesbury!' Ronno does a spot of tuning and then they launch into Round and Round. Can anyone give a date now that we have this additional information?
I'm going to re-record it onto CDR because I can't figure out why I'm hearing what sounds like digital noise on a 1970's analogue tape!

The "thank you very much...Aylesbury" before Round and Round is definitely from Aylesbury 15th July.  That was the only Aylesbury gig in '72, so either the tape traditionally in circulation is a paste-up (which is not impossible, it's not the greatest) or someone has been very clever with your tape.

The "odd sock" in the tracklisting is Life On Mars?  Other than the Festival Hall gig, it's not on any of the tapes before the Rainbow gigs.

It would be good if you could make it available one way or another so we could all have a listen...

Sounds to me like a mixture of a few sources.

Bowie doesn't mention "Aylesbury" in the Aylesbury 15.7 recording. Confusingly, he *does* in the Bristol Locarno show from 27.8. My theory is that's because he spotted Kris Needs in the audience.
