It's all been depreciating in value since January 2016.  Good luck to them, and their local landfill sites!

Don't blame me, I didn't do it!

Yes, an anthology or official bootleg release usually free’s up a lot of these things. There was a particular Dennis Wilson/Bb’s track that was in the hands of an  inner circle member who refused to let anybody even listen to it, and of course, when it was announced that the said track was coming out via a new box set, he was scrambling around trying to cut deals everywhere. No one bothered with him.

'(Wouldn't It Be Nice) To Live Again' - A Dennis track, that was spoke of but no one had ever heard it. This particular guy, who had co-written a book on the BB's was always bragging that he had it, but would never play it to anyone. The 'Made In California' box set changed all that !

I'm not so sure that's true. When an artist dies, his/her work usually skyrockets in value, since there won't be any more. That's true of visual artists, anyway. In the case of musical artists, it's probably only true until someone releases it, like the Dennis Wilson example previously mentioned, at which point hording it becomes impossible (and ridiculous).

I'm hoping Tony Visconti opens the vault and digs deep.

...and then my mind split open.

Don't think it's quite the same for recording artists (or movie stars).  Visual art has a persistence through time (Picasso hasn't gone out of fashion, just because he's not around any longer), whereas recording artists don't tend to pick up new fans once they die.  As the fans either migrate to other artists, or follow him to meet their maker, the fan base dwindles.  Sure there are plenty of loyal Elvis fans around, but nowhere near as many as there would have been in the sixties and seventies.  Give it ten years, and the hoarders will find there are far fewer people who care.

instead of moaning about so called hoarders of material....do your self a favour and put some work into locating a uncirculating audience tape such as the christchurch 78 show....heres a little help....its been taped.

I think you'll find that time is now mate.  The material I know of people just wont part with.  Bowie's own vault will never be opened, they are not interested as what the collectors would love the average fan ain't bothered about.  It's all about milking the same old stuff.

I see that many rich collector's don't want to see bootlegs with real unreleased material, just colored vinyls with the same old songs like Shadow Man, Tired of my Life, Rupert the Riley ...

You seem preoccupied with wealth. Bowie78 is correct put in some effort, employ some lateral thinking and you will turn up something. I am not saying it is easy but with persistence, diligence and time you are likely to get there. Hardcore collectors have been following that route for years with many positive outcomes. **

You then might suffer a quandry! Your source might then say "I can copy you this tape but you have to promise to keep it to yourself". Do you:

1) Be honest and say "I would love a copy of that tape but I would want to give copies to other fans".

2) Lie and say "I would love a copy and promise not to copy it for anyone" and then after receipt upload it here.

3) Say "I would love a copy and promise not to copy it for anyone" and honour that promise.

What would you do?

** In fairness I should point out that even when you track down someone that has a tape then getting them to find the flipping thing can be annoyingly protracted. Patience is a virtue.

i don't know because i never received any tape or unreleased song from collector's.
i just don't undersand why Paul Mccartney and others have loads and loads of unreleased studio material ,on youtube and bootlegs, and David Bowie fans are so secretive and jealous about this.
What happened with fans that shared things like LEON, TIN MACHINE 2 rejects and things like April tooth of gold, Ces't la Vie and other obscure songs?

What irritated me was when the very fans that were trusted stole from him.
I still to this day refuse to be associated with e'm in any way.
Rarities or not.
