I put a link in the shout box to the new issue & the ryko Space Oddity, it's been downloaded 20 odd times but no response check it out and make your own mind up as to if it's from the Ryko master tape.

I reckon It's likely to be the same master tape.  I have just been comparing my Ryko version and the new one and they sound virtually identical.  Ryko is a fraction faster/higher (about 3%). The wave for me look very similar.  The new one perhaps has a little more bottom end.
So pleased with this release. It's great!!

I definitely agree it is from the same tape Ryko used.
Those Ryko editions (or EMI in the EU) are still the best of all the CD versions for my money (and sad sod that I am I have bought them all, the RCA, the Ryko, the EMI 1999, the 30th/40th series and all the recent Parlophone efforts).
I don't rate the RCA editions at all and perhaps the best thing that can be said for them is that they did not brickwall for volume - but the problem is they were done from a digital Umatic 16/44.1 backup and not the original tapes, as the Ryko were.

Also - with the S&V box set look out for different versions on some tracks. The obvious one is "Round And Round" which is a totally different vocal on the EMI one, and there are other oddities if you listen carefully. I was going to point them out but where is the fun for you guys if I do that?

Regarding the Mercury Demos, at £85 I will be passing on this until it gets heavily discounted. No way am I paying that much for a mono vinyl as it is racketeering, pure and simple.
