As I thought (seemed obvious really), the film is coming out at this time not just because it was first planned (and authorised) during David's lifetime, but it's helping prepare the market for more (good, imo) releases.

The Hunky Dory set, I have wanted something just like that for so long ... :)

"It follows WMG’s recent partnership with Censored across her catalogue."
It means more reissues but at least there will be enough extra tracks to make them buyable to long time fans.
Is the idea ?
Young Americans super deluxe might be a while yet ??

Also we may get more visual releases too.

I wonder if they will be a little 'curated' than straight releases of shows like Tokyo 78 etc. The latter - and the Earl's Court film - may well come out, but I'm thinking of things like live 1974 and live 1976.

The fact that not much live 1974 footage from the Cracked Actor documentary - beyond the interview bits - were used in the film ... I guess the tapes used for the LA live album weren't 24 track? Who knows, or maybe it was a rights thing. Anyway, I saw the film again, and the footage of Rock and Roll With Me from late 74, he looked truly awful, quite ill. There is some other late 1974 live footage, and Brett confirmed a full 1974 show was filmed, and only the rehearsals from 1976.

I think the full 1974 show that was filmed - there will be others who are more authorative on this, I know - wasn't that black and white, and had a big timecode strip? I know there's a lot of 'corrective' things they can do nowadays, but that only goes so far. Also the 1976 rehearsals footage, I wouldn't think that's the sort of thing they'd want to put out in full officially?

I reckon they're more likely to do some sort of live compilation visual release at some time. I hope they do, anyway.

I believe Brett Morgen said something to the effect he was done with Musical Documentaries for the time being, but he was still working on something for Bowie.  This would make a lot of sense.

Yep, couldn't be sure it's what he was alluding to, but it would make sense.
