Legendary guitarist Earl Slick (David Bowie /John Lennon) and singer Bernard Fowler (The Rolling Stones) will perform David Bowie’s Station to Station album masterpiece in full and a set of other classic Bowie, Lennon and Rolling Stones songs from their careers with those artists.

Marking the 40th anniversary of the release of David Bowie’s seminal album Station to Station, this tour will showcase the remarkable talents of renowned and influential guitarist Earl Slick, whose guitar playing made such a profound impact on the Station to Station album.

Back from the concert, what a great show  8o

First act were the Lovers (I think that was their name) they were not bad, done a few of their own songs and finished with china girl (done a good job covering it, great version) but I never recorded them as the place was empty and didn't want to get caught farting about with the settings of my recorder (still new to this recording only my 3rd attempt)

Next up was Lisa Ronson, she was doing songs from her album Emperors of Medieval Japan, which was a bit weird in places but a good weird (I liked it and bought the vinyl album at the end of the gig) she was quite theatrical with her movements on the stage and the light show too was good (it was just herself on stage singing live to a backing track i presume) I'm glad I recorded that set  :)

Then was the main event, longtime Rolling Stones backing vocalist and sometime Tackhead collaborator Bernard Fowler as singer and frontman was a great choice and Earl Slick duly added his licks to the mix. Lisa Ronson was also there and the rest of the band I can't remember their names. There was a long classical intro, no idea what it was but I'm sure someone here will know it's name. Full Station to station album then things like Diamond Dogs, Valentines Day, Win, a few more Bowie and non Bowie songs but I'll leave the rest as a wee surprise you'll need to download it :)

A great night, if you get the chance to go see them, you should go  :)

Last nights show was far better than I expected although, unlike badvok, I didn't think Lisa Ronson was weird good, just weird?! LOL! :-)

OK, Bernard Fowlers voice is not even remotely similar to Bowie's (whose is really..?!) but the enthusiasm of Bernard more than made up for it. The band was pretty tight and the songs were pretty 'authentic' but with a spin. I was slightly miffed that one song was dropped from the acoustic set as the venue had a 22:00 curfew and, for me anyway, "Stay" was a big disappointment as it started well but the segue from chorus into the extended guitar solo didn't 'make my ears bleed' as it always has done; it was pretty tame compared to live versions I've heard. Other than that, it was enjoyable and Station to Station gave me goosebumps as I was transported back to 4th May 1976 all over again....

I would see them again and, more importantly, my wife said she would too!  8o  :-)
