It's OK GK, he's just pining for his wife... :)

I also found the link earlier but have only just read it. Works gets in the way... :P

I'm wondering if this WhyArts company produces these via Kunaki LLC and then flogs them on eBay as there are a number of different CD's floating around. WhyArts as a company exists in the US and, funnily enough, the 'owner' of the domain is based in Louisiana, just where one of the eBay sales for another CD was advertising...

In short it's possible that it's a small one man op who get's some half decent recordings (or in this case, a real gem), cuts the CD's professionally via Kunaki and then sells them on eBay/wherever. Don't think that he's in the Kornyphone, Swingin' Pig, TMOQ or TDOLZ league yet but either way, I'm grateful to him and nickfa for the share!:)

the "King Biscuit Flower Hour" radio program recorded this concert and broadcasted most of it in 1976 (about 80 min.)
there are several official king biscuit CD releaases (they're all professionally recorded soundboard official releases, not bootlegs), and when KBFH and Wolfgang's Vault merged circa 2011 or so, part of the intent was to release several more of the KBFH recordings officially.
ironically since that merger, there's been very few more KBFH CD releaases that I've heard about (except lossy mp3 downloads).
I think this show was issued as part of the "Station to Station" bonus reissue a few years ago
darn I hate those reissues, don't know if just this show was ever made available officially
but the 1972 Santa Monica Ca. FM show was officially issued at one point.
that was also on the KBFH, probably one of their 1st broadcasts

For the past year, there's been someone on eBay selling CD-Rs with an upgraded version of the Nassau Coliseum 1976 show. It has the same tracklist as the old SUFFRAGETTE CITY disc, but the entire show is stereo, and sound is improved from earlier boots (still using the better FM mix, not the 2010 remix for the STS deluxe edition).Does anyone have it and would be willing to seed? Thanks!

Got to say we didn't benefit from the official STS Nassau release as it is flat & lifeless (in my opinion)

That would depend on the source.

got to agree there - the original vinyl boot is far superior, and has the bonus of the full unedited drum solo on 'Panic In Detroit'

It's not often you come across anyone referring to a drum solo as "bonus"!

Don't blame me, I didn't do it!

Especially from 1976.... 8o Much as I love the rawness and cocaine fuelled sets, having sat through them twice, the drum solo's leave me cold. Still, it could be worse. I could have gone to a 1977 Zep gig with Bonzo doing a 24 minute drum solo on Moby Dick..!zzzzzzzzzzzz One for the Zep heads here to flame me with...! LOL! :-)

There is a very different mix of this available.
I grabbed it from Wolfgangs Vault - sadly 320kbps MP3 but the mix is different to any other version I have (and I think I have most of them).

Officially, the whole shebang was included in 2 versions of the STS reissues:
1 - in the Boxed version as 2CD & 2LP, remixed by Harry Malin. The vinyl smokes the CD, which is so heavily brickwalled it is not funny. I have done a declipped version of this for personal enjoyment.
2 - in the 3CD Box, with the Nassau show & the remixed STS version (again by Harry Malin).
Both these versions are missing the extended "Panic In Detroit" which was only sold in iTunes (go figure - that is the nastiest piece of software I have ever seen, and it acts more like malware or a rootkit than a utility)

Other versions I have that I have not seen torrented include the Wolfgangs Vault mix - this sounds different to the Seagull 2CD version, the "Suffragette City" incomplete edition and the resurrection vinyl edition and I believe the Wolfgangs Vault version is in fact the KBFH mix. That in itself is very suggestive as it implies there may be a Quad mix out there somewhere.........a lot of their broadcasts were in SQ Quadraphonic. I also have an alleged PreFM version & a vinyl copy called "The Thin White Duke" which adds some stuff from the Cher show as well (mentioned above)

I think that is 7 versions, all in all. Maybe more as I might have just stumbled across a non lossy version of the Wolfgangs Vault show (which has the full 13 minute version of "Panic In Detroit" too)
Checking it for truly lossless now.......

That's very true; the vinyls are a lot better than the CDs. Very glad I purchased that deluxe box while it was still available....think it's sold out long ago now.
I would be interested in a rip of the LPs, since I'm unable to rip LPs myself, and I do try to play my LPs as seldom as possible to preserve them in EX+ condition, so I'd appreciate a tip if somebody knows where a rip can be found.

But has anybody come to a conclusion which of the Nassau sources that is *the* best; complete or not? I haven't heard all 7 sources, and have yet to play that "new" source that there is a link to above; but 'till now; I favour the official LP version AND the "Suffragette City" version; especially the first 3 tracks on that one, which is taken from FM stereo broadcast and not from a mono vinyl bootleg, like the rest of that CD. Would be interested in hearing the opinion others

I have t he box, but have not done a transcription of the vinyl as my preamps are not really up to the task (earthing buzz I cannot seem to get rid of for some reason).
However - I have declipped the CD version and put the headroom back in the beast - the main problem with the CDs (and most digital releases sad to say) is the total lack of any headroom in the music and things are so bad on some the tracks simply cannot breathe. I have even been told by one mastering engineer that "we didn't use buss compression or EQ - we just took all the headroom out with limiters" as if that butchery is something to be proud of!!
