Hi everyone, I'm so happy to have found such a treasure trove of Bowie material.

I had no serious attachment to David Bowie before his death, in fact I could scarcely tell you any songs that he had made, let alone albums. But funnily enough, in the few months leading up to that death, I had him on my mind more than occasionally with the intention of seriously listening through his works. I've seen chat logs I've had with friends about this prior to his death so I know I'm not imagining things.

When he died, I felt strangely affected, as though I knew someone seriously important had died. That's when I decided it had to be done, that I had to listen to all his albums chronologically, and experience the arc of his career.

Wow has it been an amazing journey. He's changed my appreciation for music, to the point of making some of my own music collection unlistenable. Several times have I come across a new album and thought, boy he's really mucked it up this time only to find myself weeks later enjoying it as my new favourite album.

I've been trying to avoid spoilers if you will, and I'm currently at Tonight (which is not all bad) but there are deadlines ahead for things I want to see that will have things I'm not ready for!

And boy, I expect Blackstar is going to be a real killer by the time I get there.

If you're up to Tonight, then the next one is Never Let Me Down.  Don't take it too hard - it all improves again after that!!

Don't blame me, I didn't do it!

And after Never Let Me Down (which is seen, by some, as his low point) there's Tin Machine! You will have many many high points in the weeks and months to come. Don't listen to the critics, just listen & absorb. There's no right or wrong with Bowie, your favorites are yours and yours alone, & if someone has a different view, so what.

What he said.... and: I prefer "Never Let Me Down" over "Tonight" and I really love Tin Machine.

I expect so. The only things I really have a problem with are the substanceless ballads he puts out. I'm not a fan of Absolute beginners.

Exactly! I'm just thankful that there is more for me to hear for the first time! I don't think I'll experience anything like this again.

That gives me hope!

I've never heard that before - I look forward to it!

I'm easily excitable. And don't take my views as a good indicator, you may hate it. Hope you find your journey continues to be as rewarding as it seems to be so far.
