These two new books are great. They describe the entire concert history of our beloved David Bowie. If a setlist is available you can find it these books. They also list all known recordings!

Thank you.

Are there other interesting books  for completists written by other authors specifically on Bowie concerts ?

Mine arrived earlier, as you say very good but not fussed on the format/layout, a few wrong bits found already only looked at a few bits, Morrisey was not the support act at Cardiff in 1995 he quit the tour before then.

It states a local support act at Newport Tin Machine show in 1989, there was no support act.

I received mine yesterday and went straight to the 1974 section - full of inaccuracies, wrongs dates, false information. Very disappointing for books which cost £25 each.

There are also some complaints of getting the facts wrong on Illustrated DB.

I have not seen the books, so I am only guessing. It sounds like a book that could have been the perfect companion to Peggs book, but properly is made up of somewhat unedited information from the internet.
It would make more sense as an on-line database that could be edited along the way when mistakes are found and new info appears, a large job for someone to take on thou.

Some years ago  I was looking at a follow up to Pimm Jals book 'The Concert Tapes' and what I could do to start something off but no avail as you say a lot of work.

What I did do was to start word docs for each tour listing all tour dates and entering  track listings and some newspaper reports/pictures etc. My idea was to produce some sort of small book [A3 size A4 folded over] for each tour. I still have these documents but not updated for a few years now.
I was hoping for help at the time with genuine Bowie fans and collectors to get this project through the starting gate but didn't happen for one reason or another.

Now if there is anybody out there on this site [over 3000 members] who would like to help to restart this project please PM me.

I would like one person to take 1 tour doc which is of there particular interest and check the docs out  and edit as so wishes. example 1974 gouster would you be interested??

The docs are
71-73 Ziggy & Alddin sane
1974 Diamond Dogs/West Coast & Soul Tour
1976
1978 and so on.

Anyway if anybody is interested PM me.

I've also had thoughts on a companion to Peggs book if this comes to fruition.
When you consider £50 for two books which haven't really been proof read to Pegs at less than £20 ???

Steveboy

PS.....please note that the word docs are rough in my opinion

Steveboy - I would be more than delighted to assist with the 1974 tours. There has been much confusion over the years and, although I would never claim to know everything, I think I have a pretty good handle on that period. In fact, the Tour Dates and Live Recordings pages on my website - www.theyoungamerican.co.uk - document these fairy well already.

In fact, I do think that your suggestion is the best approach to take. Although I appreciate and collect from all periods of Bowie's career, I do "specialise" in the 1974 period therefore I wouldn't be too confident in documenting other eras accurately. This is probably where Wim's books fail because he has taken on too big a task to do it the justice it deserves.

First Introduction line reads:  When David Bowie died on January 16th 2016.

not bad for a book of facts just released  day he dies 6 days out
