Hi!

I'm trying to download 3 torrents:
David Bowie - 1973-02-14 - Radio City Music Hall, New York, NY, rm (learm.goody)
David Bowie Complete Unreleased BBC Radio Sessions 1967-1972
David Bowie Lyon 2003

They are supposed to be seeded, but I have the same message for all "error with secured connexion" (in French, "Une erreur s'est produite lors de la connexion sécurisée".
I'm using MuTorrent, and it's working fin with other websites.
Any idea why MuTorrent cannot connect to the tracker?
Thanks for your assistance.

And by the way, I am the taper of Lyon 2003...   :)

If so has your client updated recently ?? again if so try the old version.

Yes, µ is Mu in Greek...

When I open the torrent file, it adds the announce URL for BowieStation automatically.

For instance, for Lyon 2003, I have this in the list of trackers (name column):
https://www.bowiestation.com/announce.php?passkey=628aa05a074e9bb7c55392bed18444b2

And in the status column, I have the message previously mentioned : " "error with secured connexion" (in French, "Une erreur s'est produite lors de la connexion sécurisée";).

I had never met this issue (and I am downloading at the moment from TTD & DaD without problem, so  µTorrent does not seem to be the issue...).

Your version of uTorrent should work with the site as it is the recomended version of the client. Any newer versions might cause strange problems on this and other sites.

I remember someone having similar problems a long time ago after we changed to SSL on the site. (https instead of http)

That time the issue was related to the member using an outdated operating system that didn't support secure connections (Win95?). uTorrent uses the operating system resources to connect.
Some browsers and possibly some other torrent clients goes around this problem with including their own SSL support in the program.

Which operating system do you use?
Which browser do you use to access BowieStation?
If using a Windows version with Internet Explorer, does BowieStation work with IE?

And something that would really help is to get the error message in English.
Could you change the language settings i uTorrent to English and post the exact error message you receive?
It is 100 times easier for me to search for an english error message than french, due to not speaking french and there are a lot more Google hits on english error messages than french.

The fact that your client works for other torrents is irrelevant as you're talking to different trackers, whose setups differ from BowieStation's one.

This is more or less the same issue as described in this post. The easiest advice is : switch to a client that doesn't use WinAPI for encryption. qBittorrent is one of those.

No, it is not working with IE


I set up µtorrent in English (and restarted), but the message remains in French !

I tried with qBittorrent, but it is not working either...

It looks like TLS 1.2 is not activated by default on Win7, only on Win8 and newer.

1. Install service pack 1 for Win7 (If not already installed):

2. Install this update (If not already installed):
https://catalog.update.microsoft.com/search.aspx?q=kb3140245

3: Activate TLS 1.2:

Also make sure that all updates for Win7 are installed.

I see what you mean, I had to do it for Outlook for other computers but did not think this would also be necessary for torrents.

This is a complicated procedure (have to go inside the registry keys) so I'll do it when I come back from holidays (leaving tomorrow...) and I'll let you know whether this has worked (it did for Outlook on my other computers...).

It all depends on how the site is configured. Many torrent sites have a separate subdomain for the tracker like tracker.sitename.com.

At BowieStation the tracker is part of the main site and therefore uses https. If we were still running http and not https there would be a lot more problems for users as Chrome (and probably other browsers) gives warnings about http sites not being secure and by default blocks downloads. Then users would have a hard time downloading the torrent files from the site.
