Lady Grinning Soul is one of my most favourite if not the best track for me. It always reminds me of a potential Bond Movie track....

I saw Garson do the Aladdin Sane album in Liverpool a few years back, Gabby Marino on vocals they did LGS, the show is on site I believe

So glad it's not just me - I have been saying the exact same thing for years, and you've even got the Villain's name too. It also evokes walking through Soho in London's west end, late at nmight/early in the morning with nobody around and the rain is tipping down.....

Just some background on what the professor was saying :-

During the seventies, Claudia Lennear was a musical pioneer who sang background vocals across the genres on stage and on recordings with Ike and Tina Turner, Allen Toussaint, the Rolling Stones, Joe Cocker, Leon Russell, George Harrison, Elton John, Steven Stills, Taj Mahal, and many others.

Claudia worked professionally with many of the producers and sidemen musicians who developed the foundation of the late 60s and 70s pop music scene both in the United States and England.

Journalists have documented that Lennear was the muse for songs written by Mick Jagger, David Bowie, and Leon Russell. Lennear affirms Brown Sugar, inspiration behind Lady Grinning Soul,  A Song for You, Masquerade, and She Smiles Like a River.


Still a great idea for a Bond Movie Theme !

Not an easy song to sing for a man...

Joe Elliott did one of the best cover of Lady Grinning soul...

English singer-songwriter, best known as the lead singer and one of the founding members of the hard rock band Def Leppard.He has also been the lead singer of the David Bowie tribute band the Cybernauts.

He took part many times with Mike Garson on some Bowie Celebration concert.
Favorites songs: Ziggy Stardust and All the Young dudes.

Friends of Mick Ronson, after his death formed with "Spiders of Mars" bass guitar: Trevor Bolder and drummer Woody Woodmansey Cybernauts and Deff Leppard guitarist Phil Collen and Dick Decent at the keyboards.

There was an 18-track Japanese CD of The Cybernauts back in 2000 - one of those 'blink & you missed it' releases and it's damned good too.
