Talk about utterly underwhelming!
https://www.davidbowie.com/blog/2024/1/7/waiting-in-the-sky-vinyl-lp-for-rsd-2024

This is nothing new at all, just a rehash. I made my own version of this years ago now on a DVD-Audio, wioth the better versions too.....

"New Bowie Album" lights up the internet.
How many more "provisional tracklisting" albums will they squeeze out ?

The worst thing is that there is still some Ziggy outakes we haven't heard, like Blackhole kids?
Where is that song? Bowie himself said it was a good sond  :|

To be fair, there is a pattern here - some relatively 'fluffy' release on vinyl for those who like special vinyl releases, then a multiple cd set afterwards.

They fell behind on the anniversary date thing because of the pandemic, and I think they have gauged it doen't matter. Everybody is getting bombarded with 'anniversary of this', 'anniversary of that' everywhere, which is both a good and a bad thing. Bowie's most creative work was about starting a trend rather than following it.

Anyway, my point is that some sort of multiple disc Ziggy set should follow, hopefully on the above basis. The Hunky Dory set wasn't bang on time for the anniversary so fingers crossed Ziggy will get the full treatment - with or without Blackhole Kids depending on his manager's say so / Bowie's last will and testament as to what could and could not be released.

My hopes are on some Ziggy live shows or at least some unheard live Ziggy material. I was ploughing through Ziggy live stuff I have collected, and despite being ok with a lot of bootlegs, I really cannot make time for most of the muffled audience recorded bootlegs. I know some can.

Looking forward to what come after this release.

I don't see a Ziggy box coming any time soon - if it were going to happen it would have been last year on the 50th anniversary but all we got was yet another half speed master vinyl, admittedly supposed to be from original tapes & not the recent remasters in the Era sets but I have not yet A/B'd to check the truth of this.
I agree about the audience recordings from the early 70's not generally being worthwhile, although that said some are well worth tidying up.

Bowie's musical will is 'secret' (if it exists at all), and limits what can be published. Perhaps there's nothing more

Aladdin Sane is a better album than Ziggy and a much better cover. I bet an Aladdin Sane boxset is on the way
the ziggy part was represented in waiting in the sky lp

Bill Zysblat is the guy in charge of his estate it says here.

"Zysblat is likely to be one of the chief decision-makers on when and how to release that music,
a key step in keeping the Bowie legacy alive."

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/arts-and-entertainment/wp/2016/01/31/this-man-will-be-responsible-for-david-bowies-money-and-music/

“He’s not flamboyant. He seems to be very well liked, he’s good with the numbers, and he’s reliable.”

I've been thinking, if indeed they have skipped Ziggy and Aladdin as expanded multi disc reissues (ie more than a 2cd set) - I expect the slowdown due to the pandemic is the cause, but maybe they have now decided they simply don't have enough high quality recordings that 'really make the grade' to base expanded sets on for them?

Anyway, they won't do one for Tonight, which only realistically leaves Diamond Dogs, or possibly David Live. They can't expand the latter really beyond what they already did, unless they did full 12th and full 13th July (or whichever dates were recorded in full, there are differing accounts of what made up David Live), which seems a little pointless even to me.

Diamond Dogs? Another case of possibly not much 'in the can' to make an expanded release? Part of me would love an early Dogs live date - 16th June 1974 Toronto had some marvellous performances, particurly the wonderful live version of Drive in Saturday from that tour. However there's no indication they recorded that professionally, and nice though the audience recordings from that date, I can't see them wanting to release them (again a little pointless).

So this might be a quiet year Bowie-wise, unless they have some surprises lined up ...

"...lawyer Paddy Grafton Green as the chief executors of his estate."
He stood down.
All in that article.

" which were created for the then provisional tracklisting for what would become "

they've done it b4
and will again
will the imaginary/i've seen it pencilled on a Decca bit of paper - but still bootlegged
first
First Album get a tarting up and an official coloured vinyl release

I remember the drooling article about the 'lost' album The Gouster
''everything previously released'' - now on a record though

the K-Tel record will happen again

The K-Tel record was pretty good, not just because of the tracklisting - the tracks were mastered nicely, sweetened a little (cleanded up a bit, remastering before the CD remastering craze). Purists may have an issue with that, and many tracks were edited, but it's a nice listen.
