That settles the question of whether or not there are any more reels of the Boston Music Hall show. There arent, or they would have released it as a stand-alone complete concert instead of rereleasing the previously-known tracks here.

Jeff Rougvie who was a commander of Rykodisc Bowie project once said only he could get was 4 track of 72 Boston show at the time he made Sound+Vision box set.

seems like much of them are vanished or binded by strong contracts.

What box is this, please?
No mention of it on the main website.....but I will absolutely be grabbing this as soon as I can find out where to pre-order.

We've known for ages that there are no more Boston tracks except the 5 we already had. I can't remember off the top of my head if this was due to technical issues or loss of tapes however.

Okay, it's £145 on pre-order, so I will wait until it appears on one of the box shifter sites at a better price as that's outrageously expensive given I don't give a short sharp one about the books & only want the 5CD/Blu-ray.
Worthwhile for me if the 'Lost Session' material from January 11 1972 is from original tapes and not a cleaned-up bootleg (I won't be holding my breath on that one though) and I do wonder if we will get stereo versions of the other BBC material as they do exist even though all the official BBC Session releases (with the sole exception of those on 'Divine Symmetry') are in mono.
We shall see.

It will also be nice to have the lossless 5.1 versions all in one place at 24/96, although we are talking about the dodgy recent remasters so strike one right there for me - the versions on the DVD that was in the 40th anniversary vinyl eduition of Ziggy were so battered for volume it wasn't funny, with Left/Right channels looking like toothpaste they were that heavily limited for volume plus it was only half bitrate too.

It's going to be more difficult than ever to afford :( but I still want it.

I've thought for a long time that Black Hole Kids is unheard for a reason. I mean, beyond the zany concept (The Sliders tv progamme didn't have a bad stab at it), I can't help thinking Bowie pressed the delete button on it because he said "this is so bad, it should never be heard" . :)

So is the San Fran track a left over from the previous release?? it seems strange that it appears on this release.

I hope the BBC sessions on the 11th Jan is the correct version in excellent quality.

I thought the same thing, but I guess they're just tie-ing in what they see as the most relevant tracks to each expanded album release.

They've not included My Death from Carnegie Hall. Ah well, we've got that in perfectly decent sound on bootleg. Wasn't Carnegie Hall the recording that existed but the "levels were all over the place" - which sort of made sense that only an acoustic track was deemed good enough to keep.

The 11th Jan session is indeed finally around in decent-ish quality (seem to recall getting it through here) - I found that bringing the treble down on Waiting for the Man and Queen Bitch made the sound similar to any other 1972 session. If they are using these sort of sources, I so hope they master it decently. I do find on comparing CD releases in general (ie not just Bowie ones) that when the effort is actually made by the record company on mastering they tend to do a better job than people like us can do at home. Here's hoping they put the effort in .... (and that they don't blight it by near brickwalling it, some hope re the latter :( )

Good tip on Burning Shed, ta (it was the next place I was going to look - saved me the time  :D ).

My memory is (but may not be right) that Rarestonebowie wasn't a bootleg, but a kinda legal release by Mainman of stuff that Tony Deepfreeze had rights to.  If so, I guess it's possible that the estate doesn't have the rights to Carnegie Hall (hope that's wrong).

A thought that did spring to mind is, given the paucity of Aladdin stuff, making an Aladdin/Pinups box unlikely, could the next release be a similar live box to Brilliant Live Adventures, but for the Ziggy - Aladdin era?  Hope so

In all honesty this is a ‘must have’ for me because this was the album that turned me on to Bowie in the first place.  But I am filled with some trepidation as I set aside the funds for this purchase because I fear that most of the trailed previously unreleased stuff may well be of dubious sound quality.  I hope that my fears are proved wrong but if the ‘Width Of A Circle’ release is anything to go by quality control doesn’t seem to be a major consideration when these moneymaking releases are put together.

Actually on reflection I am even more alarmed because a quick contrast and compare shows that many of the quoted sources for CD1 are the same as those for the first CD of the Divine Symmetry set!

Well, we know there are alternate Spiders versions (as in The Spiders did more than one stab at them) of 'Velvet Goldmine', also 'Round & Round', 'Amsterdam' & 'Holy Holy' but I confess I did not know about a Spiders version of 'The Supermen'
As for the 2023 mixes? Still not sure it's a good idea as so far, none of these 'new mixes' have been much cop (and I do not understand how a TOTP recording can possibly be 'remixed' either)

I guess we will all find out soon enough

The Spiders version of The Supermen is the one used on the Glastonbury Fayre album. It was on the Ryko Hunky Dory and ZS30 CD etc.

The instrumental of Starman that the band mimed to on TOTP was recorded at Trident in June 1972. Musician Union rules of the day. It can be considered just another studio out take from the era for which they have the multitracks for so can remix it into stereo. Indeed, in 2022 they added the vocals from the ZS album version to it and released it as a single.
