Hi there,

Would like to burn the 2 files to DVD but I think more content than the two mp4 files are required (1 per disc I think)

Do these need to be converted from this format to another and if so, is there some software that does this?

Much obliged to all.

It's not that you have to convert to a new format but reduce the video bitrate to make smaller files mp4. You could of course author a simple DVD if you wanted. Try Freemake Video Converter, it's a while since I used it but it looks simple enough. Another option is Womble and use it within the free trial period but that takes a bit more to get to know.

Hi Alec, thanks for your reply.

Perhaps I was not clear. These are mp4 files. Do they need converting to something like VOB with associated tags/ files? I'm not sure. I'll give this Freemake thing a go.  Simple DVDs will do me; it's just been a long time since I've made one.

Cheers

If you DVD player is new enough it may recognize and and play various media files like mp4

The converting process is called authoring a DVD, choose DVD output in Freemake Video Converter.

Sometimes you may end up with DVD files that are a bit big for a single DVD, DVDShrink will make them fit, it's old but good but beware many download versions are loaded with annoyware or malware installs.

To burn the files to a DVD there are many ways, I use IMGBurn

Alec

PS DVD Flick is another easy to use free DVD authoring tool

You could put these onto a DVD but it would require some work.
The Source files are 1280x720 in PAL 25fps MP4 form.
To make these for DVD the best approach would be to transfer the video to a 23.976fps frame rate, as this would be universally playable & would maintain the progressive scan nature of the original. It would also need to be converted from MP4 to a 10-bit interim SD version (the footage has to be scaled from HD to SD, and then encoded to MPEG-2 which is highly lossy for the DVD - if we scale & use lossy encoding at the same time we lose detail - lots of detail. So go from 1280x720 to 720x480 16:9 Anamorphic. It runs for 2 hours 34 minutes, so could be fitted onto a single Dual Layer disc and with PCM audio - even though the source audio is lossy, maintaining this as PCM for a DVD would prevent any degradation, and it might also be possible to resample the FLAC mixes up to 48kHz 24-bit and sync those to the video footage. That would be worth doing.
Sounds like a really good project
